1. Where were you before you started CrossFit from a fitness, health, and mental perspective?
Before I started CrossFit I had just had a baby and wasn’t very active. I was going stir crazy being a new mom and doing the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse hot dog dance one too many times, I needed an outlet. I had been active before I had my baby with a trainer or the regular gym, but I had zero motivation to go back to either of those which led to more time I wasn’t being active and becoming more miserable. I was always drained and had little energy after taking care of the bambino, so it was time for me to find something I really enjoyed. Working out was just not a priority before CrossFit and now it is but in a good way. I want to be there, I want to get my rear handed to me everyday, who says that!? I never regret walking in the door.
2. Why did you choose CrossFit?
This is going to sound so cheesy, but I really can say CrossFit chose me. My best friend dragged me kicking and screaming to a class. I had zero interest in it, I was scared to death. After that first class, I was hooked. I started it back in 2015, had another baby and two out of state moves so I’ve stopped and started a few times, and every single time I come back to CrossFit because of the community. There is something to be said to have the support of everyone around you, even if you don’t know them, it’s almost an unspoken word of encouragement. I also choose CrossFit because physically, it’s the best I’ve ever felt. Being a mom to two young kids that only get faster by the day, it’s so important to me to be active with them.
3. How has it changed your life?
Do you have a cup of coffee ready before I start to list them all out? Ha, but for real it has been such an awesome addition to my life. I joke all the time that I’m not good at CrossFit at all, but I’m better at it when I leave a class than when I walked into it. I’m so much stronger, not just physically but mentally. When I physically feel stronger, it naturally makes me feel feel like I can conquer so much of the mental aspects of life. I’m so much happier, have a ton of energy and it’s a good feeling when my husband asks me to help him move furniture! Making the small gains week to week, are accomplishments no one can take from you and it’s a great feeling. I’ve also signed up with Coach Keelee’s nutrition program, and it’s a game changer! She lays it out in the most simplest of ways and it’s been awesome to follow. If you’re on the fence about it, do it!
